Discrete-time Non-smooth Nonlinear MPC: Stability and Robustness

چکیده
This paper considers discrete-time nonlinear, possibly discontinuous, systems in closed-loop with Model Predictive Controllers (MPC). The aim of the paper is to provide a priori sufficient conditions for asymptotic stability in the Lyapunov sense and robust stability, while allowing for both the system dynamics and the value function of the MPC cost to be discontinuous functions of the state. The motivation for this work lies in the recent development of MPC for hybrid systems, which are inherently discontinuous and nonlinear. For a particular class of discontinuous piecewise affine systems, a new MPC set-up based on infinity norms is proposed, which is proven to be robust to bounded additive disturbances. This robust stability result does not require continuity of the system dynamics nor of the MPC value function.

Robust Model Predictive Control for a Class of Discrete Nonlinear systems
This paper presents a robust model predictive control scheme for a class of discrete-time nonlinear systems subject to state and input constraints. Each subsystem is composed of a nominal LTI part and an additive uncertain non-linear time-varying function which satisfies a quadratic constraint. Using the dual-mode MPC stability theory, a sufficient condition is constructed for synthesizing the ...

متن کاملOn robustness of suboptimal min-max model predictive control
With the hard computation of an exact solution to non-convex optimization problem in a limited time, we propose a suboptimal min-max model predictive control (MPC) scheme for nonlinear discrete-time systems subjected to constraints and disturbances. The idea of input-to-state stability (ISS) is introduced and a Lyapunov-like sufficient condition for ISS is presented. Based on this, we show that...
متن کاملMpc for Max-plus-linear Systems with Guaranteed Stability
Model predictive control (MPC) is a popular controller design technique in the process industry. Conventional MPC uses linear or nonlinear discrete-time models. Previously, we have extended MPC to a class of discrete event systems that can be described by a model that is “linear” in the max-plus algebra. In this paper we consider the stability of MPC for these max-plus linear (MPL) systems, and...
متن کاملModel Predictive Control of Distributed Energy Resources with Predictive Set-Points for Grid-Connected Operation
This paper proposes an MPC - based (model predictive control) scheme to control active and reactive powers of DERs (distributed energy resources) in a grid - connected mode (either through a bus with its associated loads as a PCC (point of common coupling) or an MG (micro - grid)). DER may be a DG (distributed generation) or an ESS (energy storage system). In the proposed scheme, the set - poin...
